Gutter clearance in Lincoln

I'm Alex, and clearing blocked gutters is the bread and butter of what I do. Leaves, moss, silt and nests all come out, the downpipes get checked, and I prove the water runs before I pack up. Fully insured, fixed price agreed up front, no mess left behind.

Before and after a gutter clearance on a Lincolnshire home — a gutter packed with moss and leaves next to the same gutter cleared

What a gutter clearance involves

A clearance is about function, not looks — getting the rainwater off your roof and away from your walls the way it was designed to.

1. A proper look first
I check the whole roofline before I start — gutter runs, joints, brackets, outlets and downpipes — so I know what I'm dealing with and you get an honest picture.
2. Clear the gutters
Leaves, moss, silt and nesting debris all come out by hand or by vacuum, depending on the property and the access. Nothing gets flushed down into the downpipe to cause a problem later.
3. Clear the downpipes
I check each downpipe runs freely and clear any blockage at the outlet, hopper or shoe. A clear gutter feeding a blocked pipe is no use to anyone.
4. Flush test and tidy
I run water through to prove it flows, tell you about anything that needs an eye kept on it, and clear up the debris before I leave.

Signs your gutters need clearing

Blocked gutters rarely announce themselves until it rains hard. These are the things worth watching for.

  • Water pouring over the front edge of the gutter in heavy rain
  • Plants, grass or moss visibly growing out of the gutter
  • Damp patches or green staining running down an outside wall
  • A downpipe that gurgles, drips or stays dry when it rains
  • Birds nesting in the gutter run each spring
  • Sagging sections where the weight of debris has pulled brackets loose

Clearance or a full clean?

A clearance empties the gutter so it works. It doesn't make the outside of your roofline look new — that's the job of a gutter, fascia & soffit clean, where I wash the green algae and grime off the uPVC as well.

Plenty of people have both done at the same visit, which works out cheaper than booking them separately. Just say when you ask for your quote.

If your roofline is past the point of cleaning — rotten fascia boards, cracked gutters or brackets pulling away — I also do full gutter, fascia & soffit replacement.

Common questions

How much does gutter clearance cost in Lincoln?
Guide prices start from £80 for a terrace, £95 for a semi-detached and £125 for a detached property — see the full prices page for details. Every quote is confirmed in writing before any work starts. Ring 01522 444 846 or use the quote form and I'll come back to you.
How often should gutters be cleared?
Once a year is right for most homes. If you have mature trees overhanging the roof, twice a year — late spring and late autumn — is a better bet. I keep a note of when I last visited and can remind you when you're due.
Do you need access inside my house?
No. Everything is done from outside, so you don't need to be at home as long as I can get to the gutters. I'll send you photos of the work if you'd like them.
What if you find damage while you're up there?
I'll tell you straight away, show you a photo, and quote separately for any repair. I never carry out extra work without your say-so.
Are you insured?
Yes — I carry public liability insurance for every job, and I'm happy to show you the certificate.
